New Jersey - New Jersey's largest Roman Catholic Diocese is holding a church trial for a former Ho-Ho-Kus priest accused of sexually abusing a minor.
The canonical trial is the first for the Newark Archdiocese since the clergy sex scandal erupted in 2002. The proceeding is closed to the public.
The Reverend William Dowd voluntarily went on leave after the archdiocese received an allegation against him in April 2002.
