Bishop girds for sex abuse

Lingayen-Dagupan, Philippines --

Archbishop Oscar Cruz yesterday said a plot has been hatched to paint him as a sexual abuser to destroy his credibility in leading the campaign against jueteng.

Cruz, in a radio interview with dzRV Radyo Veritas, said no amount of black propaganda would discourage him from pursuing his crusade.

Cruz said the smear campaign would only make him treat his crusade "even more intense and interesting."

"Next will come the attempt to attack my moral integrity. There will be certain characters scheduled to come out with vacuous accusations about the long list of the ‘boys and girls’ as well as the ‘men and women’ in my life. This is funny and entertaining, to say the least," Cruz said.

Cruz said he "sympathizes" with the big preoccupations of all those affected by the ongoing inquiry about the jueteng lords and their payola beneficiaries.
