Lawsuit filed against Dubuque archdiocese claiming abuse
Dubuque, Iowa --
Another lawsuit has been filed against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dubuque alleging sexual abuse by a priest.
The lawsuit claims a now-dead priest abused a teenager at Loras Academy in 1954. It names the Reverend Albert Carman, who died in 1980.
The lawsuit was filed on Monday in Dubuque County District Court. The archdiocese learned of it yesterday.
Carman worked at Loras Academy from 1950 until 1959, then worked at Loras College until 1968. From 1975 to 1976, he worked at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dubuque.
