Forde appeals to Beattie for abuse victims

FORMER Queensland governor Leneen Forde has pleaded for an extra $2 million from the State Government to ensure her foundation can help child abuse victims.
Ms Forde said victims of abuse in former state and church-run institutions were being forgotten despite the current focus on Queensland's child protection system.
"The present focus on reforming the child protection system is commendable but the enduring disadvantage faced by former victims of abuse in church and state run institutions is not receiving comparable recognition through adequate funding."
Ms Forde called for churches to also contribute more to the foundation.
