Church worker charged with sex abuse
Albany, New York --
The music director at a local church was back in court Thursday night on sex abuse charges.
Malcomb Kogut, 43, appeared in Rotterdam Town Court and was released on bail. He was charged with a criminal sexual act in the third-degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police arrested Kogut after getting a complaint he had sexual contact with a child under the age of 17. Kogut has been the musical director at Saint Gabriel's Church in Rotterdam for the past 14 years. Police said he met his victim through that position.
